This is a guest post from our friends at Self Storage Finders.
You’ve researched all of your potential moving companies, found reviews and background checks of them online, narrowed down your search further and finally picked 1 company to transport your possessions across country. Now your moving day is upon you. What else can you do to make the process as seamless as possible?
One thing you can do to get off on the right foot with the movers is have beverages and snacks available for them. This is not required and most movers probably won’t expect anything but it is a nice gesture and will sure to get the movers day started on the right foot.
Be sure to also be around to answer any questions or concerns they may have. I don’t suggest micromanaging the movers because that is sure to be an annoyance but having open communication with the movers will have you both knowing what’s going on. Do what you can to keep the mood light and their spirits up. Remember, they are the ones moving all of YOUR stuff.
An important tip to consider is that documents such as wills, deeds, jewelry, computers, pictures, artwork and antiques are impossible to replace. Consider bringing these things separately with you or storing them in a self storage facility until you need them.
Moving is a stressful time and is a hassle for most of us to do by ourselves. Finding a moving company to do the job for you is a great way to relieve some of your stresses. Treat the movers how you would treat your friends or family if they were assisting you move and your moving day should go off without a hitch.
